Gavin du Plessis

Gavin du Plessis (1952- ) studied fine art at the Cape Technicon (1971 – 1973) and furthered his studies in theatre set and costume design at Croydon College of Design and Technology in the United Kingdom (1974 -1977).

Since du Plessis held his first solo exhibition in 1974 at the former Gallery Neels in Cape Town, he has since participated in numerous solo exhibitions and group shows.

His work is represented in private collections in South Africa and abroad. Representation in public collections include the US Museum Stellenbosch, Lichtenburg Municipal Art Museum and the Polokwane Museum of Art. Du Plessis is also represented in the prestigious Sanlam Art Collection.

His current abstract series is inspired by his ongoing interest in depth psychology and philosophy.
